Sian is Kenya's largest grower of spray roses, with more than 160 hectares in production across four farms. Its work on variety development has made it a key player in the global spray rose segment and a member of the Spray Roses Alliance.
“By using Lima's services we have been able to significantly decrease our market rejects”
The situation
Running a flower farm at this scale depends on knowing exactly what stem volumes are coming out of the fields and what is ready for market. Without that, sales cannot commit, the packhouse cannot prepare, and customer confidence suffers.
The challenge
Sian had invested heavily in forecasting, including dedicated staff training. It still was not enough to prevent losses caused by a mismatch between supply and demand, and the uncertainty left sales teams hesitant to commit to orders.
How Lima came in
Lima joined Sian in 2023. Yield forecasting fed by drone imagery gave a true picture of what was growing and when stems would be ready to cut. A year later sales planning followed, so field data could smooth cold store planning and the balance between sea and air freight.
